At the closing bell, wheat markets were down double digits. SRW futures closed down 8 to 11 1/4 cents. HRW futures ended the day with 9 3/4 to 10 3/4 cents. Spring wheat futures closed the session with 11 1/4 to 13 1/4 cents. USDA’s weekly Export Sales report showed 380,495 MT of wheat sold on the week ending 1/21. That was up 15% wk/wk, but just over half of the same week last year. The week’s wheat shipments were reported at 505,757 MT, bringing the MYTD to 15.5 MMT. Total old crop wheat commits are 21.77 MMT as of 1/21, which is 4% ahead of last year. New crop commits were up 216k MT to 464,108 – more than double year ago. Jordan and Algeria each purchased optional origin wheat via tenders, 6with 0k MT for Jordan and 660k MT for Algeria.
